3d printing 2d pixel art

​create Piskel image
  • use black and no animation
  • resize image to 320x320 - make sure Maintain aspect ratio & Resize canvas content are checked. 
  • export as .PNG

​open image in Inkscape
  • Open Inkscape 
  • File -> Open (select embed)
  • select Image
  • select Path -> Trace Bitmap
  • select Brightness cutoff, uncheck Smooth, check Stack Scans and Remove background
  • move original image to the side & delete (the old image is the one with white border) 
  • select paint bucket and fill new image with black
  • save as .SVG

import into Tinkercad
  • Create an account or sign in.
  • Choose File (find the .SVG file you just saved)
    • If you want thicker - scale 1.5%, height 10mm
    • If you want wider, scale 2%, height 5mm
    • Import (you may still have to adjust scale & height)
  • Select Design -> Download for 3D Printing
  • Select .STL

your pixel art is ready for 3D printing!
